Cuddle Quest 
A heart-warming game about hugging monsters! Featuring art hand drawn on paper.

Game Goal:
In Cuddle Quest, your mission is simple – hug as many monsters as you can! You're a lonely heart on a quest to spread love across enchanted lands. But be careful, these creatures might not want a cuddle at first! They might resist or even run away, but deep down, everyone just needs a strong hug <3

Explore a magical world filled with mysterious creatures, each living in their own unique habitat. Warning! Some places might be hard to traverse, watch out for soggy bogs!!

How to Play:
WASD:  move
Space: jump
Left Click: aim hug
Mouse Wheel: expand/ contract hug 

Your hugs form a looping shape that can change in size. But watch out, the monsters move too, so timing is everything!

Theme & Concept:
We interpreted the "loop" theme as the shape and motion of a hug. By playing with the scale and functionality of that loop, we aimed to make something that feels both fun and challenging.

Our Team:
 We are two friends and this is our very first game!

Ashley did all the coding and game design in Godot and Blender. She designed the gameplay, modelled the environments and created the animations and effects.

Abi designed all the characters, textures, and environments. Everything you see was hand-drawn on paper using ink and fine liner. The drawings were then scanned and coloured digitally in Krita (the grass texture was hand drawn digitally).

The visual style came from a combination of Ashley’s game design and Abi’s artistic style. Our combined styles gave the game a sketchbook come to life feel. We worked closely on every part of the project, and the final result is something we’re really proud of!
